On a recent trip to the Oneonta area I had dinner here. They have a good variety of Italian dishes. Unfortunately, on my visit the pasta was slightly overcooked and not of the proper al dente that is to be expected. Additionally, their tomato sauce is a bit too sweet. Service here was good, though, as was the garlic bread. Overall, though, a bit disappointing.

We tried Alfresco's because we heard it was good, well it really wasn't all that. We started with side Caesar salads which were warm. Yuck! I had Baked Ziti and the pasta was over cooked. If you have a baked pasta dish you need to make sure the pasta is at least al dente before baking. Hubby had Veal Parm. The most tasteless veal we ever tried. My husband doesn't use salt and boy he kept adding it. My daughter had a special from the board, chicken broccoli Alfredo. Not even creamy, watery and again the pasta was over cooked. The ambience is pretty cool and the waitstaff were good. VERY expensive!

For Oneonta, this is probably the best Italian in town. It's certainly the classiest. The pizza joints on Main St. just don't cut it as far as offering a nice sit down meal. The lasagne is one of the only menu items I can vouch for, mainly because it was so good the first time I tried it, I never bothered to order anything else. And it's very reasonably priced at $13.25, along with the menu as a whole. As with most restaurants, however, the wine will jack up your bill, and Alfresco's offers a decent list considering its location. Check out the ceiling in the dining room. Very cool. Have one too many glasses of wine and you might think you're in an old European Cathedral.

Penne ala vodka was really good! Service was fast. Pizza is also pretty good as well.

My personal favorite when it comes to Italian restaurants in Oneonta. It may be the fact they don't deliver or just that they care more than everyone else to put out great dishes.

Great place to stop for dinner if your road trippin' in this area! It's very child friendly and they are accommodating if you have diet restrictions.

You can't beat the atmosphere and service here. My husband and I love to go here for their antipasto salad with house vinaigrette and a slice of their delicious pizza. The salad is always delicious and the pizza is my favorite local pizza. The staff is friendly and attentive.

This was my first experience ordering from here. After reading the reviews, I was excited. We ordered a small pepperoni pizza, a dozen "hot wings," and 1/2 dozen "cheesy garlic knots." Which came to a total of around $30 or so. Got home and opened up the wings and garlic knots and we were extremely disappointed (see my photos of wings and knots). I pulled out the first wing to look at it and there was someone else's hair attached to it (which was revolting) and it was barely bigger than a quarter. Also, they weren't hot wings either like they were supposed to be, they had some kind of weird rub on them (not sauce) and they were mild at best. You also have to pay extra for dipping sauce for the wings. Already bummed, we went to check out the garlic knots which we paid extra to have cheese added on top. Strike two! As you can see from the picture, only the middle one actually had cheese on it. The rest were sitting in cheese that had basically burned to the side and bottom of the container and were essentially without cheese and kind of hard. The marinara sauce for dipping was extremely watered down also. The pizza, however, was quite good. That was the only thing that was up to par in our order. That is the only reason this is getting two stars. I won't be ordering from here again.

My husband and I have been in Oneonta for eight years and I don't think there's an Italian restaurant in town we haven't tried, at least for pizza. Over the years one place closed, the quality of another declined suddenly, and most recently the one we had been patronizing shortened their menu, removing two of our favorite dishes, and at the same time the flavor of their sauce took a nose dive. So I went back to the yellow pages and to be honest, the only reason I chose Alfresco's was the pretty ad. Well, all I can say is I wish we'd found this place sooner. We moved up here from the Metro NYC area and this is the first pizzeria I have found that makes an honest-to-God thin, crispy, New York style crust, topped with fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection. Heaven, But there's more to Alfresco's than pizza. We've tried several entrees and a few subs. Their eggplant parmigiana is delicious; they do not bread their eggplant as some places do, but I believe this to be a regional thing. Didn't lessen the appeal of the dish, though. And their subs! Their meatballs are to die for and I don't know where they get their sausage but I've never had better anywhere. Pricewise they are slightly higher than the numerous run-of-the-mill pizzerias Oneonta has to offer, but the food is well worth it.

Their giant slices of pizza pie are the best in town, and Oneonta New York is a pizza town for sure!

Looking for a family restaurant while staying in Oneonta and saw the high ratings for Alfresco's so we stopped. It was terrific, the service was great and the price was reasonable. I'd highly recommend it!

Pizza was ok, certainly big enough slices. Wings were over cooked and the pasta my wife ordered was clearly a leftover. Id pass on this one.

I'm originally from the Oneonta area and I've eaten at Alfresco's since 1995 or so. One of my childhood memories is of our waiter who found out it was my birthday and he sang "Happy Birthday" to me a capella. First off the pizza is great. Sandwich wise I recommend the International Cheese Club Platter (whatever they soak that inner piece of bread in is what makes the whole sandwich) and Turkey Reuben. The bread is so HUGE and good. I love their Caesar salad with anchovies. The pasta dishes I've had of theirs have generally been good. I've had one particular pasta dish a couple of times not on the menu but it is often offered as a special--the ingredients are more Greek influenced (it might even have "Greek" in the name). I'd say their coffee is one of the best (if not the best) you can get in the area. The one dessert I can't get enough of is the Espresso Cake/Brownie (I can never remember the name exactly). Other than the food the other big reason why I love coming to eat here is the calming ambiance. No bright fluorescent lights ruining your life. Around Christmastime they always have a mind blowing tall and robust Christmas tree on display with tons of ornaments, lights, and decorations beneath it. When it's cold out I run to the small table by the fireplace to eat. The waitstaff are always friendly and helpful. They seem to hire people with a personality I've noticed. The two complaints I hear regarding Alfresco's are their fairly high prices (considering how economically depressed the area is) and the wait time for food to be served. I have to agree the prices for their Specialty Entrees and some of their pasta dishes are a bit up there. I'm sure it's because they use quality ingredients unlike other places and if you're feeling like splurging I think it's worth it. It does take them awhile to serve your food depending on what you order but that's what happens when food is made fresh. If you're that impatient go to McDonald's or Neptune Diner.

Normally, I just stop by and pick up a slice of pizza for lunch (its cheap and huge). But I have had meals there, too. Their meals are good, but a bit high priced for Oneonta, and like others have said, there canbe quite a wait. The atmosphere is incredible!!! I even had my daughters 16th birthday party there several years ago and was very pleased.

Mmm, I'd like to give it a better review knowing that they've been around for a while, but honestly, the bets thing I had there was wine and the awesome warm bread rolls. Otherwise, my greek salad was no where near a greek salad and the tomato sauce was blend. I heard their pizza slices are awesome, so maybe that's the reason to go.
